Who We Are

York Area Group of the NYMR

Our aim is to support the North Yorkshire Moors Railway (nymr) and in particular but not exclusively, the P-way dept who maintain the track.

We are a charity in our own right (Charity number 1073653).

We are mainly comprised of NYMR members who live in the York area but not exclusively.
For those who just want to attend the meetings, these are open to the public but if you join the group then a discount on admission is available.

Our prime source of income is through recycling of paper and aluminium, in which we have been invoved for over 30 years. In which time we have shifted a few thousand tonnes of material.

The NYMR is one of the longest preserved railway lines in the UK with 18 miles of rail running through the North Yorkshire Moors with Steam and Diesel trains.

The York Area Group website was created in October 2009, therefore it is very new and under development, please keep checking this site for updates.
